About Northern Arizona University
The funding of Northern Arizona University started in 1899, more exactly on September 11. In 1925, the institution gained the permission to grant the Bachelor of Education degree, by the Arizona State Legislature.
After having its name changed several times during the years (Normal School, Northern Arizona State Teacher's College, Arizona State College of Flagstaff), the current name of `Northern Arizona University` was settled in 1966.
Today, Northern Arizona University has an enrolment of more than 21 000 students and it was highly ranked by numerous well-known magazines, such as Forbes Magazines and U.S. News & World Report.
The University contains 6 colleges: College of Arts and Letters; College of Education; College of Engineering, Forestry and Natural Sciences; College of Health and Human Services; College of Social and Behavior Sciences and the W.A. Franke College of Business.
The NAU main campus, located in Flagstaff, covers an area of 740 acres, containing 22 buildings.
